Frequently Asked Questions?

  • Guests will be transported via a 15-passenger van, with no more than 2 people/bench.
  • The van will tow a covered cargo trailer for additional luggage (1 bag/suitcase per guest), sleeping bags, personal equipment (Bicycles, Kayaks, Canoes, SUPs), and Fox Hill Adventures’ tour gear.
  • Nights will be spent at different state parks, national forest, or private semi-rustic campgrounds.
  • Off the ground cot-tents are provided by Fox Hill Adventures.
  • * 90% of campgrounds use vault toilets *
  • Other public flush toilet restroom facilities will be available daily.
  • Each guest can bring one (1) suitcase/duffle bag for their personal clothing and other travel items.
  • Each guest can also bring a backpack for having personal items and snacks in the van, also to use during their daily hiking, biking, paddling, etc.
  • All guests will need to bring their own sleeping bag & pillow. (It does not need to fit in suitcase/duffle bag)
  • FHA will send guests a suggested packing list once we receive your reservation down payment.
  • All meals are provided. Most meals will be prepared by staff around the campfire.
  • Vegetarian options can be made available.
  • *Vegan options can be accommodated. Please contact staff for details.
  • Lunches are a combination of sandwiches, fruits & veggies, crackers & cheese.
  • Snacks are always available.
  • Some beer & wine will be available for evening “Sundowners.”
  • Guests are always welcome to bring or purchase their own non-perishable favorite foods.    (Please inquire with staff about storage space regarding perishable items)
  • There will also be opportunities to eat at local establishments along the tour. Payable by the guests themselves.
  • *Food allergies should be discussed with staff prior to trip.*
  • Showers are available at most camping locations. A couple of the shower facilities will require a nominal fee $, which FHA will cover.
  • There may be a night or two where showers are not available, but there will be a small camp shower tent, body wipes, or usually a large lake nearby where the use of environmentally safe soap can be used.
  • If you spend anytime in the Great Outdoors, bugs come with the turf!
  • Many locations are not too bad. Some are worse than others!
  • Regular DEET-based, and natural bug repellent options are available.
  • A number of bug deterrent practices are used around the camping areas.
  • Though we are not bothered by them too often, bug repellent does not work well against Black Flies! Long sleeve shirts, pants, and wearable bug netting is recommended.
  • Depending on your carrier, there is cellular signal along most of the tour.
  • Though there are locations, especially around campgrounds that the cellular signals are weak or do not exist!
  • Best signal in the region is from Verizon.
    • AT&T and T-Mobile adequate.
    • Sprint, U.S. Cellular, and very limited to no service.
  • Yes!
  • There are multiple USB and AC/DC charging outlets and options in the van, along with solar chargers while in camp.

  • Fox Hill Adventure tours are set up to be semi-customized for the guest! On non-driving days, guest have the availability to choose their adventure! Individuals can decide to go hiking, or biking, or kayaking, or sailing, or beaching, or rock picking, or sight-seeing, or book reading, or napping… Options from intense adrenaline rushing white water rafting to lounging at the beach are available!
  • During inclement weather, in many of the locations, there are sheltered options like museums, shops, and restaurants near by which can be utilized.
  • Staying around camp reading a good book, playing card games, or taking a relaxing nap is also an option.
  • Absolutely!
  • All kayaking and sailing outfitters used by FHA will give a full refund if the weather prevents them from taking you out on your water adventures. 
  • Fox Hill Adventures are customized to the guest’s energy levels. If you want to be busy all day or want to lay back and relax a bit more, we can accommodate your preference!
  • Most day’s activities end around or before 5pm.
  • Camp time in the evening is meant for relaxing after a day of adventures.
  • If you prefer to sit on the beach, or kickback at camp all day, this is always acceptable!
  • Yes, there is a small airport in Ironwood, MI (IWD) that has limited flights connecting from Chicago and Minneapolis.
  • There are also multiple airport options within a two hour radius. We recommend flying into either…
    • Duluth, MN (DLH),
    • Rhinelander, WI (RHI),
    • Wausau/Mosinee, WI (CWA).
  • Fox Hill Adventures can arrange limited pick-up and drop-off availability before and after a trip.
  • Pick-up and drop-offs to Ironwood are no additional cost.
  • Pick-up and drop-offs to other airports are limited and have an additional cost.
