Minnesota’s North Shore
&
Western Lake Superior Tour

Waterfalls,
Scenic Lake Shores,
River Explorations,
&
Ventures into the Past
!

Step back in time
to the settlement of
Lake Superior
and tour the shores
of Northern Minnesota,
Wisconsin’s Bayfield Peninsula,

& Michigan’s Western U.P.

This tour will depart from the small Northwoods
recreational community of Ironwood, Michigan,
and ventures west along the U.S. 2 corridor,

then north into Minnesota following
the northwestern shoreline,
referred to as
the North Shore or Arrowhead
of Lake Superior.

Travelers will have daily opportunities to
Discover  the rivers and numerous waterfalls
flowing towards Lake Superior.
Gooseberry, The Devil’s Kettle, Temperance River,
and the Pigeon River Falls on the Canadian border
to name a few!

You will have the chance to visit one of the most
beautiful and picturesque lighthouses on
the Great Lakes at Split Rock, and
Explore  some of the most spectacular
cliff shore views of Lake Superior!
There will also be opportunities to hike along
the Superior Hiking Trail, find wooded single-tracks
for the off-road bicyclists, and
the Gitchi Gami Bike Trail for a bit of a
smoother more casual scenic ride.

There will be time to Embrace
some of the local history and visit historical
fur trading, and commercial fishing sites,
along with learning about the subsistence of
the mining industry past and present that is embedded
into the region’s economic sustainability.

Mid-week the tour will retrace its path back southeast, and venture across the bay to

Wisconsin’s Bayfield Peninsula, and
Apostle Islands
National Lake Shore.

The Bayfield Peninsula is rich in
outdoor recreation, natural scenic sites,
and small harbor town culture.

You will have the chance to kayak
the beautiful
Lake Superior Sea Caves.

Paddle down class 2 & 3 white-water rapids,
or just lazily down the river.

You can dive into more local history
and snorkel shallow water shipwrecks,
or charter a sailboat around
the Apostle Islands.

Maybe you would rather hike to some of
the local waterfalls, or bike more single-tracks
and winding backroads.

There is also the option to take a ferry over to
Madeline Island, and investigate the island via bicycle, or hiking the
wilderness preserve,
Big Bay Town Park,
and Big Bay State Park.

Week’s end we pack up our
beach-side camp,
and head back east to Michigan’s
year-round recreation destination, the
Porcupine Mountains!

We can hike the trails, gaze over
Lake of the Clouds, bike the scenic south boundary road, and explore the cool waters and falls of the Presque Isle.

Camp along the edge of Lake Superior
and have a traditional Friday fish fry
over an open campfire.

This tour concludes heading back towards Ironwood, visiting the locally favorite
Black River Falls,

pedaling up the single-track of Chippewa Hill,
and looking out over the treetops at
the Lake Superior landscape from
the top of North America’s
highest
ski flying overlook,
Copper Peak!
